Richardson has 27 years in high tech management in a variety of large and small companies. He received his electrical engineering degree from MIT and worked as an engineer on classified systems for the Naval Ordnance Lab. He then returned to school, receiving his MBA from Harvard. Starting at Hewlett Packard in the mid-1970s, he moved progressively through management positions in the peripherals and networking groups. He left HP to become Vice President of Marketing at Compression Labs, a leading supplier of video conferencing systems. Moving to San Diego in the mid-1990s Richardson has been in senior management positions at Proxima, Overland Data, and etNetworks.
