New York, NY (PRWEB) October 8, 2003 –- A keyboard could be a springboard to stardom for administrative assistants and computer technicians in The Second Annual American Business Awards.

To celebrate the launch of its Call for Nominations in dozens of categories ranging from Best Executive to Most Innovative Company, organizers announced today that all nominations for Best Support Staffer and Best Technician submitted before the early bird entry deadline of November 14 will be free of charge.

Hailed as the business worlds own Oscars" by the New York Post (September 22, 2002), The American Business Awards are the only national, independent business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace.

Nicknamed the SteviesTM for the Greek word crowned," the awards, designed by the same company that makes the Oscar and Emmy, will be presented at a gala, nationally broadcast ceremony in New York City in April 2004.

We began the American Business Awards last year as a way to recognize the millions of Americans who accomplish innovative and exceptional things every day, but rarely get acclaim for it," said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevies Awards, which organizes the program. In a very short time the Stevie has become one of the worlds most coveted awards, because companies see this as an excellent way to recognize their employees and to increase public recognition of their accomplishments."

The American Business Awards are overseen by the Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors including business luminaries such as Donald Trump, chairman, president and CEO of The Trump Organization, Bruce Nelson, chairman & CEO of Office Depot, and marketing gurus Don Peppers and Martha Rogers. "For more than 139 years, RR Donnelley has relied upon the highest ethical standards to guide us. Winning the inaugural American Business Awards for Best Overall Company is an honor, as it showcased our commitment to our employees and relationship with the communities surrounding us," said Vicky Shire-Dinges, senior vice president of corporate communications for RR Donnelley.

"We were honored to be recognized in the first American Business Awards," said Steven T. Plochocki, InSight Health Services Corp. president and CEO. Winning a Stevie Award for Best Business Turnaround helped to further cement our position in the industry while enhancing our image throughout the business community."
