World Premiere performance of a newly commissioned work by Dr. Sy Brandon to be featured in concert by the Golden Gate Wind Quintet

In its first performance of the 2003-2004 season, the Golden Gate Wind Quintet will be performing a concert titled Evolution", which will feature the world premiere performance of a newly commissioned work by Dr. Sy Brandon titled In Praise of Music". The program will begin with a composition by the ‘father of the woodwind quintet-Anton Reicha, and traverse through the evolution of wind quintet genre culminating with the newly composed work by Dr. Brandon. The concert is on Saturday, November 15th at 8:00pm at the San Francisco Community Center (544 Capp Street, San Francisco), There is no admission charge, however, donations will be accepted.

Described as a breath of fresh air"- (July 2003-San Francisco Classical Voice) The Golden Gate Wind Quintet was formed in 2002 and has performed throughout the Bay Area. Comprised of flute (Jeffery Pelletier), oboe (Ivan Aladjoff), clarinet (Leslie Tagorda), French horn (Everett Doner) and bassoon (Scott Posey), woodwind quintet music combines versatility, scintillating sounds and unique instrumentation to create a very captivating texture.
