French Wine Explorers, an American tour company specializing in luxury wine and culinary tours of France, announced today an exciting new program for 2004: the Bordeaux Prestige Tour. This ultra-luxury program, June 1-5, 2004, is the ultimate splurge for the fine wine connoisseur, with an unprecedented number of tastings at the regions most prestigious chateaux. An elite group of 12 guests will visit all five First Growths (Margaux, Haut Brion, Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild and Latour), as well as the most legendary estates of Pomerol, Saint Emilion and Sauternes. The tour is so exclusive that these last three chateaux asked not to be identified, because they NEVER open their doors to the public for tastings!
Accommodations for this tour will be as exceptional and exclusive as the tastings: 2nd Growth Chateau Pichon Longeuville Baron, one of the Médocs most beautiful chateaux. The Chateau, which is a private estate and not open to the public, has invited French Wine Explorers guests to stay in their six luxurious guest rooms, each with private en-suite bathroom. Dinners will be gala events, either in the Chateaus lovely private dining room, or at nearby Michelin 2-star Chateau Cordeillan Bages, the regions best restaurant.
During the tour, guests will meet with chateau owners, sommeliers and cellarmasters as they explore the upper echalons of the Bordeaux wine business from the inside. They will also enjoy a special discussion of wine and food pairing with Thierry Marx, one of Frances best-known chefs (Chateau Cordeillan Bages). The tour will be fully-escorted by Lauriann Greene-Sollin and Jean-Pierre Sollin, two certified sommeliers (one American, one French) who live in France and are well-known in the Bordeaux wine business.
Included in the tour price of US$4595.00 per person, double occupancy, are: all chateau visits and tastings, 4 nights accommodations at Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron, buffet breakfast each day, 4 gastronomic dinners with premium wines, 3 gourmet lunches with fine wines, luxury air conditioned transportation including transfers, and the services of two bilingual sommelier guides throughout. The tour is strictly limited to 12 guests.
