Colorado Springs, CO,(PRWEB) November 18, 2003-Auctions4aCause.com announces new concept in online auctions. Consumers can't sell their products here. There are only a limited number of bids accepted for each auction, and the products are brand new, name brand items, still in the original, sealed box, offered for 80-90% below retail. And at least 25% of the net proceeds go to charities selected by the bidders.
Auction web sites are nothing new. However, instead of just following whats out there already, Auctions4aCause.com launched a web site that is different. This site features a blind auction for brand new products at 80-90% off retail prices. Only a certain number of bids are accepted for each auction before it is closed and the highest unique bidder gets to purchase the item for their bid amount. This bid can never be higher than the listed Get4" price, which is 80-90% off retail price.
At least 25% of the net proceeds go to charities selected by the bidders. The proceeds come from a nominal bid fee charged for each bid placed. When someone registers on the site to place a bid, they select their charity from a short list of national charities. Every time a member participates in an auction, the charity selected gets a point. At the end of the quarter all the points are tabulated and the charities are ranked according to the percentage of the points earned. This percentage determines the distribution of the proceeds each charity gets.
A sampling of the brand new, brand name products on auction right now include a Panasonic 42" Plasma TV for less than $625, a Sony PlayStation 2 for less than $21 and a $200 Wall-Mart gift certificate for less than $29. See http://www.auctions4acause.com for the current list of products.
The potential for online auctions is huge given the online world population stands at 606 million (NUA statistics for September 2002). In October 2002 Forrester Research predicted that by 2007 Internet auction sales will account for 25% of total online retail sales in the US. This would be an increase from $13 billion in 2002 to $54 billion in 2007.
ABOUT Auctions4aCause.com
The company was founded by several individuals affected by the high-tech industry lay-offs. Instead of sitting around complaining about jobs moving overseas and the lack of new jobs opening up in their region, this group decided to take matters into their own hands and use their years of marketing, engineering and web development experience in pursuit of their own dreams. Several of the founders have been involved with fundraising for charities and had noticed that contributions to charities were suffering. By starting this auction site the company decided this was a great way to help charities.
