New Magazine Promotes the Arts for Central New Jersey

Upstage Magazine sets goal of being the premier arts & entertainment publication in New Jersey.

SPRING LAKE, NJ (PRWEB) December 31 2003--Upstage Magazine is ready to take on the big boys in 2004! The print publication, which launched in October, is gearing up for the new year with increased distribution, a new sales force, and a huge marketing push.

Upstage Magazine is a free monthly publication that covers the arts throughout Central New Jersey. Each issue provides news, features and event listings for art, music, theatre, comedy clubs, independent film, dance, poetry and more. In addition, each issue is put entirely online at www.UpstageMagazine.com with a constantly updated event calendar.

"Although the Central New Jersey area already has similar publications, we feel that Upstage Magazine has carved its own niche by focusing on the arts rather than the bar scene," said publisher, Gary Wien. "You won't find political talk here unless it deals with the arts and you won't find examples of the 'Girls Gone Wild' school of journalism. What you will find is the most comprehensive coverage of arts & entertainment for the area available anywhere."

The Central New Jersey region is comprised of Monmouth, Middlesex, Mercer and Ocean counties. It is a virtual city of sorts encompassing such towns as New Brunswick, Trenton, Princeton, Asbury Park, Long Branch, Red Bank, Toms River and Point Pleasant. These towns form the bulk of the magazine's distribution and are all located within a 40-45 mile radius of each other.

"This area is currently covered by at least a half-dozen daily newspapers that seem to believe their readers will never drive more than 10 miles to an event," explained Wien. "At Upstage, we believe our audience really cares about the arts. Central New Jersey has world-class theatre and some of the best musicians in the world; there are incredible artists, budding poets and writers, talented filmmakers and venues that bring the best of entertainment into our backyards. There's so much going on around here that nobody has to drive to New York City or Philadelphia. They just need a publication to tell them what's going on in the area and that's where Upstage comes in."

The magazine is supported by advertising, which ranges from $25 to $300. Payment is by check or credit card. Advertisers may supply their own ads or have Upstage create an ad for them at no additional charge. Upstage believes in giving its advertisers more for their ad dollars. Each ad is placed online at UpstageMagazine.com and advertisers may take advantage of free banner ads as well. Businesses that wish to reach fans of the arts should consider advertising in Upstage Magazine.

"The greatest thing we can do is encourage people to take a chance and attend an event that they may not have considered before," said Wien. "We believe in the local arts community. We know that it's one of the most underrated areas in the world. Our job is to let everyone else know about it."
