Idaho Children's Book "Gators & Taters" Gobbles Up Awards

McCall, ID -- "Gators & Taters: A Week of Bedtime Stories" has been selected for two statewide programs, one national award and one literary booklist. The children's book by McCall author Elaine Ambrose Romano features eight creative stories to be read to children and for early readers to read out loud.

   McCall, ID (PRWEB) July 28, 2003 – Gators & Taters: A Week of Bedtime Stories has been selected for two statewide programs, one national award and one literary booklist. The childrens book by McCall author Elaine Ambrose Romano features eight creative stories to be read to children and for early readers to read out loud.
   Idaho Public Television selected the book for its First Book” program. Through a grant to IPTV, books will be purchased and given to underprivileged children around the state. The program builds literacy skills by providing books to children who otherwise might not have books in the home.
   Idaho First Lady Patricia Kempthorne chose Gators & Taters for the States new Read Out Loud Crowd” program that gives books to libraries and children throughout Idaho. The First Lady has been reading from Gators & Taters at libraries around the state. The Read Out Loud Crowd” program encourages children to read through the summer.   
Farmers Market Online recently announced that Gators & Taters: A Week of Bedtime Stories won its national contest for the best new childrens book. This Direct from the Author Book Award” is featured on the web site FarmersMarketOnline.com. The award recognizes the quality of the book and the success of its marketing program.
   Gators & Taters is included on the reading list for BookFest 2003” sponsored by the Log Cabin Literary Center in Boise. At the September conference, author Elaine Ambrose Romano will teach a workshop on writing for children. She also will consult with aspiring authors and read to children.
   The book was published by Mill Park Publishing in McCall and features an Idaho author, illustrator, publisher and printer. According to publisher Michael Romano, Gators & Taters is sold at retail stores throughout Idaho. The book also is available on amazon.com, through two national book distributors, and from the web site www.millparkpublishing.com
