Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) August, 2003 -- The Upgrade Group, (TUG) a long time Cisco upgrade and peripheral supplier sees an unprecedented opportunity to offer their customers overall system upgrades when addressing the recently announced flaw in the Cisco IOS 11.x and 12.x systems. The company, which offers a number of solutions that address the vulnerability directly, sees the announcement as an unprecedented opportunity to increase the value and performance of their clients networking systems when addressing the flaw.

The flaw affects a wide range of Cisco devices that run IOS and accept data packets using Internet Protocol Version 4 (Ipv4) which they do by default. These products include routers, catalyst switches and aironet wireless devices that run on the affected systems. The flaw allows attackers to create a Denial of Service (DoS) attack by sending special packets to a vulnerable device. These packets fool the device into thinking its full and stops routing traffic until the interface is unblocked. There have been exploits released to the general Internet public that will allow malicious Internet users to attack networks, blocking Cisco interfaces and therefore disrupting networks worldwide.

According to TUG President Jeff Ludington, We see the announcement of the vulnerability of certain Cisco IOS products as the perfect opportunity to promote our companies strategy of upgrading systems for overall performance, instead of just repairing a flaw.”

Using their stronghold in the Cisco Systems upgrade and peripheral arena, TUG offers both Cisco OEM upgrades as well as third party upgrades. Their reputation for maintaining longstanding partnerships with global manufacturers and their well-trained sales and support staff has helped gain new customers as well as keep old ones.
