Fired Up By Under God” Pledge of Allegiance Controversy, Oregon Mom of Four Fights Back With Website.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) Sept. 9, 2003--On the 2nd anniversary of 9/11 a Portland, OR mom plans to launch a website titled Libertyville, USA. Melinda Turner, outraged by courts decision to allow removal of under God” from Pledge of Allegiance wanted to instill patriotism in her children by decorating their rooms in patriotic American décor. She had to "search to find cute, quality, and affordable décor items," she said. Tired of searching, she decided to create an online resource for people who want to show their patriotism to friends and neighbors.
My heart just swelled at the awesome outward display of patriotism that followed that terrible event, said Turner, referring to the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and I wanted to make it easier for people to continue to show their patriotism and not let it fade away.”
As the concept for the website developed, Turner decided to ask visitors to submit their uplifting patriotic stories and essays. She plans to compile the best submissions into a book to be published.
There are amazing stories of personal sacrifice and patriotic valor coming back from the battle fields of the armed services, and we would love to hear those stories, she said, but there also wonderful events made possible by liberty and freedom that happen right here in America everyday, that many times go unnoticed and their stories untold. I want to collect those stories and make them available for everyone to be uplifted and inspired by.”
To submit a story or essay to the collection, go to http://www.libertyvilleusa.com and click on contact Homeland Pride, Inc. Submissions are accepted via e-mail. Turner is launching her marketing efforts for the website this Thursday in honor of the 2nd anniversary of the September 11 tragedy.
