(PRWEB) January 8 2004--Gable-Cook-Schmid Public Relations (GCS-PR), a San Diego-based public relations agency with a strong biotechnology practice, announced today it has been selected to serve its first Chicago-based client, Chromatin Inc.
Chromatins suite of intellectual property enables the development of crops with improved genetics to enhance nutritional value, and food safety as well as accelerate the discovery and development of affordable pharmaceuticals and the production of industrial and consumer products.
Chromatin chose GCS based on its national reputation for helping biotech start-ups quickly penetrate not only specialized trade media, but top-tier business and investor media as well, said Rick Cook, a GCS partner and co-founder.
The next year is a critical one for our company," said Mich Hein, Chromatins CEO. The markets have demonstrated that stellar technology, which we have, isnt enough to seize mind-share among financial targets. Based on its track record, GCS can implement a multifaceted program that enables Chromatin to reach key targets quickly."
Chromatin Inc. was founded in 2000, based on technology developed in the laboratory of Dr. Daphne Preuss and her colleagues at the University of Chicago. Jon Schmid, another GCS partner and co-founder, will manage the Chromatin account. GCS also announced today that Lisa Holton, the former business editor of the Chicago Sun-Times and principal of The Lisa Company, a writing, editing and research firm based in Evanston, Ill., will work with the GCS team as senior counselor.
The bedrock of our strategy at GCS is to outperform competitors by utilizing senior counselors who can achieve significant results in record time and within reasonable budgets," said Cook. At the same time, we intend to invest resources where we see the greatest growth potential. The Chicago market is a perfect showcase for one of GCSs core strength -- biotechnology."
A former Chicago Sun-Times reporter, Schmid also cited his familiarity with the Chicago market and the availability of Holton, a former colleague, as key factors in the firms decision to open a Chicago office. Under the agreement, Holton will continue to operate her own company but also will counsel GCS clients in the Midwest, working with a GCS partner.
GCS operates its San Diego and Chicago offices semi-virtually, with partners and staff working primarily from home offices. The semi-virtual model is designed to maximize the amount of senior counsel given to clients while emphasizing cost effectiveness.
Delivering results that help their businesses grow and achieve a return on investment (ROI) in PR are the criteria by which our clients measure GCS, and its the criteria we use to manage as well," Schmid said. We invest in the resources that produce results – a combination of talented professionals and proactive culture that is dedicated to client success."
In addition to Chromatin, GCS also counsels Forward Ventures, Southern Californias largest venture fund focused exclusively on the life sciences, Epicyte Pharmaceutical, Pfizer (on the West Coast), Kemia and First Dental Health.
