The 2005 San Francisco Writers Conference Announces the List of Presenters (and Scholarship Opportunities) for its Upcoming Event

Lemony Snicket, John Lescroart, Karen Joy Fowler, Mary Roach, Joyce Maynard, Adair Lara and Terry Ryan will head the prestigious list of presenters for a literary celebration in the heart of San Francisco over President's Day weekend.

(PRWEB) October 2, 2004 -- The 2005 San Francisco Writers Conference already had a faculty of best selling authors, agents and editors from the West Coast and New York. Yet the list of presenters teaching at the conference continues to grow and impress even its own creators, Elizabeth Pomada and Michael Larsen of the Larsen Pomada Literary Agency. The event will be held at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel over Presidents Day Weekend—February 18-20th, 2005.

A small sampling of newly added presenters at the 2005 San Francisco Writers Conference includes: John Lescroart (The First Law), Karen Joy Fowler (The Jane Austen Book Club), Lemony Snicket (A Series of Unfortunate Events), Joyce Maynard (To Die For), Mary Roach (STIFF, The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers), Adair Lara (Slowing Down In A Speeded-Up World), April Sinclair (Coffee Will Make You Black), Katharine Kerr (Daggerspell), Leonard Schlain (The Alphabet Versus The Goddess), Tess Uriza Holthe (When the Elephants Dance), Jewelle Gomez (The Gilda Stories) and Candace Hern (Once A Scoundrel). Returning presenters include Gail Tsukiyama, Terry Ryan, Penny Warner, Pat Holt, D.P. Lyle, Kathleen Antrim, Julie Ann Long, Holly Payne, Kathi Kamen Goldmark, Cara Black, Dan Poynter, Katharine Sands, Deb Werksman, Barbara Santos and Carolyn Miller Quill. A presenters list is posted on the event website at www.SanFranciscoWritersConference.com.

The event presenters also include literary agents searching for new clients, well-known marketing professionals in the publishing industry, and many more major authors who simply want to share their writing success stories. The event is appropriate for all writers and genres will include non-fiction, fiction, childrens books, poetry and cookbooks. Check the website www.SanFranciscoWritersConference.com for more event information.

Several of the presenters will talk about the process of turning their books into films. Lemony Snicket not only wrote the book, he will be played by Jude Law in the upcoming Christmas blockbuster release of A Series of Unfortunate Events starring Jim Carrey. Terry Ryans book about her mother, The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, is a soon to be released Robert Zemeckis film starring Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson.

The San Francisco Writers Conference registration fee includes over 30 sessions—writing workshops, panel discussions, keynote speakers, information on traditional publishing, self-publishing, and timely book marketing ideas. Attendees will meet and work with a faculty of bestselling authors and outstanding publishing industry professionals. The most rewarding part of the event is when ‘ready to be published writers are able to meet one-on-one with all the right people," says Public Relations Director Barbara Santos.

The optional ‘Speed Dating for Agents session is invaluable for writers looking for an agent. Attendees get to ‘pitch their books to as many agents as they can see, face-to-face in three-minute consultations during a three hour period! The session is open only to SFWC attendees for $30. Get all the details at www.sanfranciscowritersconference.com.
The event was sold out last year, but the entire hotel will be devoted to the conference to comfortably accommodate many more attendees this time around. The Sir Francis Drake Hotel is offering a limited number of rooms at a SFWC conference rate of $110 per night. The hotel overlooks Union Square and is within walking distance of the Powell Street exit of BART. Hotel reservations are available at 800-227-5480.
