User-Lab presents Web Accessibility and Usability Training event

West Midlands, U.K (PRWEB) October 1, 2004 -- User-Lab http://www.user-lab.com, the user-centred design centre, presents Web Accessibility Training event in conjunction with ECOTEC http://www.ecotec.com/ and the RNIB http://www.rnib.org.uk/. The event is to be held on the 14th October 2004 at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) http://www.biad.uce.ac.uk.

The training provides practical solutions for managing, auditing, designing and developing accessible websites.

The event is aimed at web developers, designers and managers, and will provide delegates with practical skills to evaluate and improve the accessibility of their websites.

John Knight, Director of Interaction Design at User-lab comments, The training has been running for three years, and feedback has been extremely positive from previous sessions. The events continue to assist a number of organisations whether they are SMEs or corporates; in bringing accessibility and usability issues to the forefront within their environments, so that their website designers and developers can address current and future requirements."

The Web Accessibility Training event starts at 10:00 and finishes at 16:30 and costs 220.00 including VAT.

User-Lab is a non-profit making organisation based at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design http://www.biad.uce.ac.uk/. The lab is part of the Institutes Research Department and is staffed by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in digital media design, human-computer interaction, psychology and software engineering.

The lab comprises three purpose built testing and design labs that are equipped with the latest technology for conducting behavioural, physiological and psychological research.
The lab has two related functions: to carry out research into the digital experience and, based on the results of this work, to develop an innovative commercial service.

In the two years since its inception, the lab has been involved in a number of collaborative projects with RDAs, FEs, charities and the public and private sector. The outcomes of these projects range from assisting start up businesses to training, as well as the labs core business of user-centred design services.
