Transforming a Mulit-Purpose Room Into a Church Sanctuary

The Integrity Christian School in Newberg, WV had a multipurpose room very similar to those found in most churches or schools. They have a 40 x 48 x 16 high room with very hard reflective surfaces all around (plaster walls, metal ceiling and concrete floor). The room could only be used for recreational purposes such as basketball because of the excessive reverberation or echo within the room. However the church school had plans on using this room for more events in the future.

(PRWEB) October 4, 2004 -- The school contacted Acoustical Solutions, Inc. in search of an acoustical treatment for the room. Acoustical Solutions, Inc. ran a reverberation (echo) report on the room and determined the existing reverberation (echo) level within the room was approx. 6 – 6 ¼ seconds long. The goal was set for a reverb time of 1.5 – 2.0 seconds. Acoustical Solutions, Inc. determined that (24) 4 x 8 x 2" AlphaEnviro Acoustical Wall Panels flush mounted to walls spaced evenly around the perimeter of the room would be the perfect fix. The Ripstop Nylon material was chosen for the AlphaEnviro Wall Panels because the room was still to be used as a multi-purpose room and the panels on the walls would need to stand up to some abuse from basketballs and volleyballs.

Within days of the installation being completed, Pastor Terry Wilt contacted Acoustical Solutions regarding the room with the following comments. I would like to thank Acoustical Solutions for your help in turning our multi-purpose room into a sanctuary. That is how drastic the change was in the room after installing the wall panels. Before the panels you could hardly stand to be in the room when the kids were playing basketball, and even when they were not playing it was hard to carry on a conversation with anyone because of the reverb. Now it is so indusive to hearing that we have moved some of our Church services into the room. We were amazed as we began putting the panels up around the room, you could here the noise level dropping with each panel added. Also they were so easy to install and we were able to get them in our school colors, which was an added bonus. We feel that the investment we made in the panels was well worth it. I'm thankful that you had the solution to our problem. Feel free to use us as a reference for your product; it's something to brag about."
