(PRWEB) October 8, 2004 -- Parents are not informed of choices available.
We receive many calls from parents of students in need of band instrument repair. A common statement from parents is, we rented through the school and have a maintenance agreement." The school system does not rent instruments. During band signup at the junior high schools, a company based out of Texas has a representative available to take applications and a deposit toward a band instrument. The band directors are not allowed to mention other music dealers during this signup period. There has been some discussion among other music dealers whether this practice is legal.
Parents have told us when they were present during the signup that they were led to believe this particular signup was the only chance to reserve and instrument for the coming school year.
Most parents who are aware that they do not have to rent from the Texas dealer come to our store to get their instrument. We invoice for repairs on instruments that are not covered under the Guitar Stuff Music Store Maintenance & Replacement Agreement.
Local band directors cannot send us school owned instruments for repair. Instead they are overcharged and delayed by having to send the instrument out of the county. One example: A South Carolina school district was quoted over $1100.00 to repair three school owned instruments. The director brought the instruments to Guitar Stuff Music Store to perform the same repairs for $545.00.
If you prefer that the Texas dealer perform the repair, you can ship it or drive to the nearest drop off location (Fayetteville or Charlotte). You might receive your instrument in three to four weeks. Instruments rented from Guitar Stuff Music Store are repaired here in Richmond County. Our repairs are completed within one to seven days. On occasion and representative returns to the schools to pickup and deliver repairs. These visits average four weeks apart. Meanwhile the parent could bring the instrument to Guitar Stuff Music Store and have it repaired within a week.
Other school districts are recognizing Guitar Stuff Music Store as their choice for sales and service. A majority of our repair business comes from the surrounding counties.
All of our new instruments, regardless of name brand, have the full manufacturer warranty available. The customer never has to deal with the manufacturer. Guitar Stuff Music Store has a certified technician who performs the necessary repairs or replaces the instrument so the student does not be without an instrument for an extended period of time.
Guitar Stuff Music Store is the only musical instrument dealer supporting Richmond County. We purchase yearbook advertisements, donate time and products to local charities, provide P.A. equipment for school programs, and volunteer to help with many other local events.
Guitar Stuff Music Store should be the first business of choice to provide band instrument rental and repairs for Richmond County Schools. Our prices are cheaper and our service is better. Parents should be informed of their choices.
