NJ-based Revolution Earth Productions takes to the streets of Manhattan to promote feature-length documentary "UnConventional."
RUTHERFORD, NJ (PRWEB) October 13, 2004 -- At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2004, the undead will descend upon Times Square.
As part of the promotional effort for the new feature-length horror documentary "UnConventional", groups of zombies will stumble around Times Square, then moving to the Upper East Side and the East Village handing out materials for the movie. "UnConventional" is Executive Produced by Danny Aiello and is the second feature-length doc from the New Jersey-based Revolution Earth Productions.
The film takes place during Halloween weekend (2003) at the 13th anniversary of the bi-annual Chiller Theatre Horror Convention. The Chiller" is one of largest conventions for fans of the horror genre. Held twice a year in the New Jersey Meadowlands, the convention draws thousands of people from all over the United States and is an unforgettable three-day weekend of madness, mayhem and the macabre.
The film stars Tiffany Shepis – a young, hot scream queen, Gunnar Hansen – the man who played 'Leatherface' in the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", Bobby Gonzo – comedian and micro-budget filmmaker, Cathy and Dave Wilbur – a seemingly normal suburban couple who turn fanatic once the convention begins, and 42nd Street Pete – one of the men who helps run the convention. Cameos include celebrities such as David Carradine, Linda Blair, Sid Haig and Tom Savini.
"UnConventional" also resurrects one of the all-time greatest legends in horror—Zacherley the Cool Ghoul. Zacherley is best known as the host of the classic Shock Theatre and Chiller Theatre television programs in the late 50s and early 60s on WOR and WABC. His trademark was the 'jump-in,' where he would insert himself into whatever horror movie was featured on the show, usually to great comic effect. "UnConventional" uses classic footage from the original programs that, in effect, make Zacherley the host of the film.
"UnConventional" is written and directed by Michael Furno (Rutherford, NJ) and Daniel F. Doyle (Rochelle Park, NJ), and co-Produced by partners Elizabeth Claire (Montclair, NJ) and Aaron Cole (Rutherford, NJ). This is the second feature documentary for Revolution Earth Productions. The first, "Shorty," about a 56 year old man with Down syndrome has been both a critical and audience success. "Shorty" began its run in October of 2003, and is still in theatres across the U.S. and Canada. To date, "Shorty" fundraising premieres have raised over $50,000 dollars for various charities including the National Down Syndrome Society, The Special Olympics and the ARC. "Shorty" is also being strongly considered for a segment on an upcoming Oprah show.
