Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) October 12, 2004 –- Long Beach, California resident and artist Alejandra Vernon (www.avernon.com) has been invited to display her artwork in one of six Premier locations at the Fall 2004 Affaire In The Gardens Art Show scheduled for this October 16th and 17th. She will debut her artistic ouevre La Gioconda" at the Beverly Hills event.
The much-anticipated show is one of the largest and most popular art shows on the West Coast with up to 40,000 attendees over the two-day event. Held each May and October since 1973, the show features art by 200 exhibitors from around the country, who showcase their work in prints, photography, painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics and mixed media. The artist is thrilled to have been chosen out of approximately 2,000 applicants and says it is a great honor to be a part of this event.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, she spent her early childhood in Ecuador, Argentina and Jamaica. Those experiences continue to influence the subject matters she chooses to depict. Leonardo da Vincis seminal masterpiece coupled with thoughts of Jamaica influenced the growth of Vernons interpretation La Gioconda," which is Taken down the road apiece," according to the artist. Take a trip down the rabbit hole to see the intricate patterns enmeshed in the vibrant ruby and sapphire colors, which seem to be the basis of this interpretation. A framed kaleidoscope produces a deep sense of engagement and inspiration.
With a large and devoted East Coast following, she says people are often surprised to find her living in California instead of New York or Boston. She says for her, the choice is easy because Long Beach has a relaxed atmosphere, adding that the weather is perfect and the environment ideal for concentrated work. She has lived in Long Beach, California for the last two years and plans on building her body of work one Frappaccino® at a time.
Alejandra Vernon is a member of The Copley Society of Art and Long Beach Arts.
