Security Concerns Fuel Demand for Password Management

On 24 September 2004 Citi-Software launched Access Manager 2: a refined version of the original password manager launched in 2001 to facilitate fast, easy and secure password storage.

(PRWEB) October 14, 2004 -- Growing concern about security has seen interest in Password Management escalate in recent years," says Richard Cleaver, Managing Director of Citi-Software, and author and developer of the software.

The original Access Manager generated over 1/4 million downloads, thanks both to the prevailing climate, but also to accolades from Business Week Magazine, who deemed it "a top-rated program you can trust", and to the 5 star awards from 18 review sites including SnapFiles and FreeWare Files, all of whom have accorded the same rating to the new version.

Two weeks after the launch of Access Manager 2, the site is generating over 500 downloads per day, with enquiries from UK local government, US educational institutions and notably from Holland, where demand for the original software exploded after a detailed review in the Dutch magazine: ‘Computer Idee.

The Professional Edition is the first product to help specifically with internet banking: for example with the retrieval of letter sequences in a password." says Cleaver. To the best of our knowledge, there are no other products on the market doing that, nor companies offering free help and support, which we give to all users, with priority to those using the Professional Edition."

Other features particular to Access Manager 2 are:
•   Password ‘Selector
•   Authentication
•   File encryption and secure file deletion
•   Multi-user
•   Password Properties
•   Installation on Portable Media
•   Each password can include unlimited links to websites and e-mail

Access Manager 2 is available either free for personal, non-commercial use or in a Professional Edition for $19.95. A full feature list comparing the Free and Professional Editions can be found on the website: http://www.AccessManager.co.uk

The new software design has been worked on intensively for the past 12 months, with 100 users beta-testing it over the last 2 months. Since the launch, the performance of Access Manager 2 has already been deemed ‘robust, with few users reporting any problems.

Many users have been requesting a PDA version of Access Manager and Citi-Software is already planning a version for the Pocket PC.

The Professional Edition is available for journalists to try. Contact Richard Cleaver for further details.
