3D Java Browser Gaming: A Free Open Source Engine

Ever tried to program a 3-D Java game, compatible with every browser? Save yourself from endless trial-and-errors by using d3caster from www.stahlforce.com, available now for free download. An instant demo game is also available online.

Stuttgart, Germany (PRWEB) October 16, 2004 -- Software developer and computer artist Vincent Stahl released a new 3D Java gaming development kit, embedded within an Open Source demo game. The package is primarily intended for the experienced Java developer; it contains proven methods of sound programming, fast image loading, image conversion, and 3-D raycasting graphics with dynamic light effects - all made with pure Java, without the need for special plugins or hardware! Find the distribution package here, together with an instant online demo: http://www.stahlforce.com/dev/

"Browser-compatible multimedia programming is a long story of trial and error", says Stahl, "many things that work fine within an application are simply blocked within browser applets. And nothing's worse than trying to load many images within a reasonable time." These issues are solved now - maybe still not perfect, but proven, and ready-to-use. Furthermore, Stahl added lots of computer artworks, images and self-composed music, to make things more fun. "Of course, this is also a promo for my art. After all, if you walk through a 3-D world, you need something to look at!". d3caster is a unique demonstration Sun Java(TM)'s power to provide real, browser-based 3D gaming - written once, and running everywhere.

Vincent Stahl is a software developer and computer artist located in Stuttgart (Germany), producing surreal images, electronic music, and interactive web presentations. Most of his art products are available through CafePress in San Leandro, California. Further media material, especially images suitable for printing, is available online at http://www.VincentStahl.com/press/
