Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY Forms Support Group for Stroke Sufferers

Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY is hosting its first support group for individuals recovering from a stroke on Tuesday, October 19 at 11:00 am. The newly formed support group is provided by Good Samaritan Hospital free of charge and will meet on a monthly basis in the hospital auditorium.

(PRWEB) October 16, 2004 -- Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY is hosting its first support group for individuals recovering from a stroke on Tuesday, October 19 at 11:00 am. The newly formed support group is provided by Good Samaritan Hospital free of charge and will meet on a monthly basis in the hospital auditorium.

The groups first meeting will include a presentation by Dr. Stuart Lestch, MD. Dr. Lestch will provide an overview of what physically happens to the body during and after experiencing a stroke as well as the steps toward recovery.

The road to regaining independence, mobility and strength following a stroke is often a difficult one," Dr. Lestch said. The support group will help people gather strength by sharing with others experiencing the same condition."

Good Samaritan Hospital offers a number of rehabilitation programs for stoke victims, including physical, occupational and speech therapy. Through certified, caring professionals, the programs employ a combination of manual techniques, modalities (heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation etc.) and state-of-the-art equipment for assisting individuals in reaching their recovery goals

Good Samaritan Hospital is part of the Bon Secours Charity Health System, which also includes St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY, and is a member of the Bon Secours Health System in the United States, a Catholic health care ministry headquartered in Marriottsville, MD. Additionally, Bon Secours Charity Health System provides the services of a Certified Home Health Agency, two long-term care facilities, an assisted living and adult home facility and several other medical programs.
