Golf Tips Magazine has awarded the IROD Hybrid shaft by United Sports Technologies (UST) with a coveted 2004 Tech Award for proving that a graphite golf shaft can make a significant impact on performance.

Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) October 20, 2004 -- With media attention often focused on the latest, greatest clubheads that hit farther, longer and straighter, innovations in graphite shaft engineering dont often receive the public accolades they deserve. However, true innovations are hard to ignore, and the editors of Golf Tips Magazine have awarded the IROD Hybrid shaft by United Sports Technologies (UST) with a coveted 2004 Tech Award for proving that a graphite shaft can make a significant impact on performance.

Golf Tips Tech Awards showcase the most exciting technological equipment advances, and feature innovative clubs and components that have pushed technology to the limit. In the Nov./Dec. issue of Golf Tips, editors acknowledge that most people still believe graphite shaft upgrades are strictly for drivers, but UST has proven that graphite shafts can make a significant impact on fairway woods, hybrid clubs and long irons as well. IROD shafts are specially designed to create a higher trajectory, add more distance, enhance stability and lend better shot control than standard steel shaft options."

Were extremely pleased with receiving a Golf Tips Tech Award and the recognition that comes with it," says Gene Simpson, vice president of sales and marketing for UST brands. A graphite shafts design and quality is as much responsible for a golf clubs performance as any other component, and the IROD has proven its performance benefits time and time again on the professional tours around the world. In fact, were proud that the IROD Hybrid shaft is the No. 1 hybrid shaft on the PGA Tour and favored other hybrid shafts by a 2-to-1 margin."

The IROD Hybrid Fairway shaft produces a tight shot dispersion, while the IROD Hybrid Utility shaft technology focuses on both accuracy and maximum distance control. The IROD Long-Iron shaft is specifically designed to put the difficult-to-hit 2-, 3- and 4-irons back in the golf bag by producing a high trajectory shot from the most difficult lies.
