An idea for putting together disaster preparedness tips for other small businesses grew into a supplies drive for the states hurricane relief efforts. The company of less than 100 staffers collected over 1000 products for delivery to the states Regional Recovery Center in Tampa this week. Answers Systems also welcomed the efforts of neighboring business and client, Perkys Pizza Inc., to increase the number of supplies collected. Answers Systems president, Bud Hilton, commented on the effort, Answers Systems is excited to make an impact in our community, and partnering with our friends at Perkys Pizza really perpetuated the sense of community and social conscience that should exist in every business today."
Dedication to community service and development of corporate conscience will not stop with the hurricane supply drive. Charla Shebairo, Human Resource Generalist, recently implemented programs that promote teamwork while also providing a means for raising money for specific charities each month. Various local and national non-profit organizations will receive donations from Answers Systems based on money raised each month by employees through Answers Systems Pat on the Back" program. Employees buy cards with small tokens of appreciation for coworkers with the majority of the money raised going to charity. The month of October has been dedicated to raising money for the Florida Hurricane Relief Fund. Upcoming months will focus on Toys for Tots, the American Cancer Society, The Humane Society, and many others. There are two goals of this program: 1) to promote teamwork and appreciation of one another and 2) to raise money for organizations that reflect the causes closest to employees hearts.
Ms. Shebairo will also be revitalizing the Community Service Day program at Answers Systems which allows employees a paid day off in order to volunteer time with a non-profit agency.
