Website Offers Community & Quality Intimacy to HIV/AIDS Victims

A new website, www.hivandsingle.com, has been launched with the purpose of giving people afflicted with HIV/AIDS an opportunity to anonymously experience community and intimate relationships without fear of judgment.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 22, 2004 -- "It's a unique concept" said Matt Beram, co-founder of the site, "because it's not just about AIDS politics, it's not just a forum, and it's not exactly a dating service. We provide comprehensive information, and a forum for discussions, but most importantly we help people make high-quality, intimate connections."

Founded in January 2004, the completed site debuted in May and has already grown to over 600 members. "Our ultimate aim," explains Beram, "is to become profitable so that we can donate large amounts of money to finding a cure."

Future plans call for the site to be completely ad-supported, despite the only cost at present being $9.95 per month to have unlimited contacts. "All the big dating sites charge upwards of $20 per month," Beram points out. "But when we have enough members to sell ads, we will not charge anything. Full access with full service for free, that's always what I've wanted."

Beram and partner Brian Thomas, who came aboard in August, are working hard to make the site self-supporting. With HIV/AIDS in both of their families, the work could not be more personal, or more crucial. That's why nothing but the best will do.

"The site is very comprehensive and just as good as the big guys out there, Match.com and Yahoo Personals," enthuses Beram. "You can search via zip code, interests, sexual preference, hair color, any little detail. Membership is free, you can post and search profiles for free, you can send and receive a 'virtual kiss' for free. The only time it costs anything is when you want to start contacting people."

But right now, Beram announces, the site is running a promotion: All new members get full access to the site for their first week of membership.

"There are a few other sites, but none as good as ours," concludes Beram. "We really cater to the individual, and Brian and I personally answer all e-mails. We never want anyone to feel like they are alone dealing with a big company. We always want them to know that we completely empathize with them, and that we're here to help."
