Pulitzer Prize Nominated Author to Speak in Los Angeles on Iraq

The Southern California community is invited to a ground breaking lecture on Iraq by internationally known Pulitzer Prize nominated author Edwin Black.

(PRWEB) October 29, 2004 -- The Southern California community is invited to a ground breaking lecture on Iraq by Pulitzer Prize nominated author Edwin Black. Mr. Black is the award-winning New York Times and international best-selling investigative author of IBM and the Holocaust. On the heels of the release of his new book Banking on Baghdad, he will be holding a speaking event at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, November 1, 2004.

This event is entitled "The Mufti, Hitler and Iraq" and is sponsored by the State of California Center for Excellence on the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, Human Rights, and Tolerance at California State University, Chico; Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust; and the International Society for Sephardic Progress.

Mr. Black will discuss how partnerships existed between Hitler and the Arab leadership in the Mid-East. Many do not realize that in 1941 Hitler sent the German Air Force Into Iraq to seize the oil fields. Hitlers involvement brought him into a relationship with the Islamic authorities and soon they together plotted to jointly destroy the Jewish population. Few know that the Arabs and the Nazis trained together; Few know Hitler dispatched bombers to aid in an all-out attack on British forces at the British air base at Habbaniya, located midway between Fallujah and Ramadi; and few know Churchill sent a foreboding cable to President Franklin Roosevelt, stating that if the Mideast fell to the Germans, victory against the Nazis would be a hard, long and bleak proposition."

Because of his newly uncovered research, in only the past 10 days Mr. Black has appeared on CNN with Wolf Blitzer; Ohio State University; Wayne State University, on National Public Radio; ABC radio and NBC television affiliates. He has spoken before the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and Justice for Jews in Arab Countries; Leo Baeck Institute; American Jewish Congress; Lansing, Michigan Capitol Area District Library, World Affairs Council, United Nations Association, Institute on Religion and Public Policy; and the Institute on Religion and Public Policy at the U.S. Senate Office Building on Capital Hill. Mr. Black has had exposure in the world media as well, being interviewed by the press in London and CNN International both in the last few days.

Those who want a deeper and clearer understanding of the current situation in Iraq should consider attending. Persons interested in attending this timely event can contact The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust at 323-651-3704 or visit them at 6435 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 303, Los Angeles, CA 90048.
