Danger Mouse & Murs team up for a second time this year to produce another ‘conscious track for an important cause, the Genocide in Sudan.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 31, 2004 -- Two of the more progressive-minded artists in hip hop, Danger Mouse & Murs, have teamed up for a second time this year to produce another ‘conscious track for an important cause.

Danger Mouse, who was recently tapped to produce the new Gorillaz album, joined forces with Murs to produce the song Paint By Numbers" exclusively for the non-profit Genocide in Sudan CD which also includes tracks from System of a Down, Jill Scott, Jurassic 5, Yoko Ono, X-ecutioners and Gorillaz to name a few. The CD, which is available at www.waxploitation.com/genocide , is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the victims of famine and genocide in Sudan, a situation that the UN has declared the worst humanitarian crisis the world faces today, with over one million people in dire need of help. All proceeds go to UNICEF and the UN Refugee Agency.

The last time Danger Mouse & Murs collaborated, it was for the song To a Black Boy" with biting lyrics that drew massive attention to the plight of 18 year-old Marcus Dixon, an African-American honor student from Georgia who was sentenced to ten years for having sex with a 15 year-old white girl, a conviction and sentence the Georgia Supreme Court threw out in May of this year.

Were thrilled that Danger Mouse and Murs are a part of this. Its very meaningful to a lot of people when artists give their valuable time to a charitable cause," says Waxploitations Jeff Antebi, the producer of the Genocide in Sudan CD. To say the song is ‘intense is an understatement. Murs unleashes lyrically."

Danger Mouse produced the infamous Grey Album, a unique hybrid of work touted as the one of greatest remix albums ever produced, a work which forever raised the bar on hip hop experimentalism. With one million downloads in just one week and an ensuing battle between major record conglomerates, the media, Internet and copyright advocates, the Grey Album is considered a watershed moment in music history. His recent debut Danger Mouse & Jemini Ghetto Pop Life CD (featuring Tha Alkaholiks, J-Zone, The Pharcyde and Prince Po ) has received massive critical acclaim across the board. SPIN magazine called it a remarkable debut". URB magazine called it an instant classic".

Murs, of 3MG and Living Legends fame, has most recently released his Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition CD on the Def Jux label.
