Trolley Ride Offers Heartfelt Music About America

Songwriter writes music with a deep journey into the heart of America.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 3, 2004 -- Phil Mitchell, wore many hats this summer as a city trolley driver. As a composer and keyboard player, Mitchell searched ways to introduce his music. Trolley drivers play a variety of music for patrons. Mitchell, however, decided to introduce his latest CD Morning Star" to others. A favorite, according to the musician, was a song entitled The Trolley."

I had them hopping in their seats as I played the music. They would bob their heads as the trolley headed down the street," he said.

Many songs touched him during his life and he longed to share them with passengers. This album is deep journey into the heart of America and I had to find a way that people could listen. At first I was a little shy about sharing on the trolley, but I soon learned to overcome it as people really started to reflect on the music."

This collection includes an array of songs about George Washington, the Alamo, the Mississippi River, love, and faith.

Visitors are really looking for music to accompany them on their own journey through life. Some would look me into the eye and say thank you," he remarked.

Mitchell believes his music is different from most music on the radio because of its deep meaning. The meaning reached to passengers who were young, old, rich or poor. "The "morning star" greets everyone when we wake up the morning. The real question is how do we face our lives?"

One gentleman told me that he longed for the old days when music had meaning and words meant something. Sometimes the homeless would board the trolley. I had a mother with three kids that was completely broke," he said.

Mitchell added this was a great experience. My music was like a companion as we drove past the river. Gently on the Plain" really helped people to reflect on peace. We have so much to be thankful in this country."
