Linux Web-Based Applications CD Available

SQL-Ledger, XRMS, and osCommerce MS2-Max on one CD-ROM brings real business solutions to small and medium businesses.

(PRWEB) November 29, 2004 -- Connect Computing is pleased to announce its third and final CD in a series focused on introducing businesses to Linux and Free / Open Source Software.

Linux Server Applications for Business is a compilation of three web-based business applications and guide book to help businesses use Free and Open Source software. The CD contains a full accounting system, a CRM (customer relationship management) program, and an e-commerce platform. All the programs are available on the Internet for download as well but Connect Computing has downloaded and "unzipped" the files before putting them on the CD-ROM saving people the time of downloading, unzipping, and evaluating the software.

"Over the years, I've looked at a lot of software both proprietary and Open Source and feel that these applications are mature and very usable for small and medium businesses who may not have the IT budget to buy a vendor's system or upgrade their proprietary system.", stated Roy Hoobler, president of Connect Computing.

The package ships with one CD-ROM and a 46 page guide book that gives an overview of each application, installation tips, and several screen shots of each application.

Connect Computing believes giving exposure to these types of applications is needed for IT departments to consider Open Source. Most technical people are bombarded with emails from vendors promoting their products where as an Open Source project usually doesn't have a company marketing their solution. Having support from a firm such as Connect Computing and other Linux consultants, can boost the popularity of these applications.
