New Anti-Spam Technology Succeeds with Tried-and-True Business Logic

New anti-spam business trust ratings index exposes responsible vs. slippery email senders, using existing facts about servers and domains. The Mail Cruncher service leverages this ratings index to compress the time email recipients spend dealing with spam to less than two minutes per day.

(PRWEB) November 19, 2004 -- Spammers may be able to make their content look legitimate, but their behavior is another matter. They live life on the virtual run--constantly hiding and moving. On the other hand, the behavior of legitimate businesses is exactly the opposite. They are stable, and upfront about who they are.

"A few years ago it was hard to tell a legitimate business from a spam source," says April Lorenzen, the leader of the team that created the anti-spam service called Mail Cruncher. "However, these days, most responsible senders are easy to spot."

Business people cannot afford to miss even one revenue generating email, nor do they have time to waste on spam. Mail Cruncher aims to solve both problems.
Lorenzen continues: "The majority of email traffic doesn't need a SenderID type of technology to prove that a relationship exists between the sending domain and the outbound server. The evidence can be obtained by cross-checking existing internet authority records."

Mail Cruncher, using data supplied by a "business trust database" called the Outbound Index, sorts mail according to how long a sender has been around and the verifiable business relationship between the sending domain and outbound server. Mail Cruncher (www.MailCruncher.com">www.MailCruncher.com) automatically assigns a high rating to any sender who meets these criteria.

For example, let's say a legitimate message from USBank.com comes in from a server with substantial identification and clear ties to USBank.com through internet authority records. This email goes directly to your inbox.

Now let's assume an email comes in from "USBank.com," but the server sending the message is new, without clear identification or stability. The sending server would get a low score. In addition, if no business relationship seemed to exist between the domain USBank.com and this server, the message would be tagged and held back by Mail Cruncher. It would not make it into your inbox.

By Mail Cruncher standards, most spam messages fail tests of stability, longevity and identity. Mail Cruncher quarantines and compresses these messages from slippery senders in a streamlined list reviewed once a day by the recipient. A hundred unwanted email messages can be deleted with one click.

"Mail Cruncher's highest purpose is to get the wanted mail immediately through to recipients, while compressing the time our customers spend on spam to under two minutes a day," says Lorenzen. "Business people cannot afford to miss even one revenue generating email, nor do they have time to waste on spam. Mail Cruncher aims to solve both problems."

Mail Cruncher is available for $3 per mailbox per month and offers a 60-day, risk-free trial.

One business owner who jumped on the 60 day trial is Christina McIntyre of Conanicut Real Esate. "Mail Cruncher is wonderful. It is definitely user friendly," says principal broker Christina. "It not only saves time, but has made receiving email messages a pleasure rather than a task."

The Mail Cruncher service is offered by FullScaleCommerce.com Incorporated, a privately held web, database, and email hosting company founded in 1996.

The Outbound Index is an offering of Server Authority, Inc., an anti-spam infrastructure company founded in 2001 for the express purpose of developing the Outbound Index.
