Native American Music Awards Finalist Ballots Distributed to All Advisory and Industry Voting Members

Ballots for the Seventh Annual Native American Music Awards have been distributed to All N.A.M.A. Advisory and Industry Members to select five finalists or nominees in each category.

(PRWEB) November 22, 2004 -- Advisory Ballots for the Seventh Annual Native American Music Awards have been distributed to All N.A.M.A. Advisory and Industry Members. The Seventh Annual Native American Music Awards is tentatively scheduled for February 2005 with a new location to be announced.

Recordings eligible for the Seventh Annual Native American Music Awards were commercially released from April 1, 2003 to June 1, 2004 and have national distribution by a domestic record companyor authorized distributor.

All recordings submitted have been compiled into a ballot and sent to NAMA Advisory/Industry Voting members to select five finalists in each category. The NAMA Advisory Board also reserves the right to eliminate entries which are deemed ineligible. Final Nominees will be announced no later than January 2005 upon which public voting will commence.

Over 150 national recordings were submitted for nomination consideration this year. This year's sponsors include; Saginaw Chippewa Tribe, Soaring Eagle Casino, and The Oneida Indian Nation of New York.

The annual Native American Music Awards, or "The NAMMYS,"is an ultimate celebration of music honoring the outstanding achievements of today's leading Native American artists in over 30 Awards categories and live music performances from Traditional to Pop, Rock, Country, and Folk. With a technical value and reputation equally compared to that of other major national Awards shows, the consistently sold-out Native American Music Awards has been featured in; Billboard Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Associated Press, NY Times, Boston Globe, Indian Country Today, News From Indian Country, CNN, CBS This Morning, UPN 9 News, MSG Metro Arts channel, and A&E.

Previous award winners include: Robbie Robertson, Rita Coolidge, R. Carlos Nakai, Indigenous, Crystal Gayle, and more.
