Actor Returns to Comedic Roots in Remake of Classic 1946 Film
New York, NY November 24, 2004 - Jonathan Silverman joins the cast of the romantic-comedy / fantasy film, Angel on My Shoulder" for New York-based T.H.E.M.E Entertainment. The project is the first theatrical remake of the 1946 classic which starred Paul Muni, Anne Baxter, and Claude Rains. Tim McCann helms the project with Todd Baker assuming writing and producing duties.
Silverman will play the role of Al", a wisecracking assistant to a do-gooder Manhattan Judge. The actor began his career on the Nell Carter sitcom, Gimme a Break", before moving to Broadway as the lead in Neil Simons Eugene Trilogy": Brighton Beach Memoirs", Biloxi Blues", and Broadway Bound". Over the past year Silverman has completed such weightier fare as RKOs Laura Smiles" and the upcoming Jekyll". With such projects as the recent Showtime docu-comedy, Pryor Offenses", and the Angel on My Shoulder" remake, Silverman makes a return to his comedic roots. The actor is repped by Erwin More of the William Morris Agency.
Set in New York City, Angel on My Shoulder" tells the tale of wiseguy, Eddie Kagle, who is gunned down in a mob hit and sent to Hell before he has a chance to better his life. The Devil gives Eddie an opportunity to return to Earth to wreak revenge on his killer. In exchange, Eddie must derail the philanthropic efforts of a New York judge. His efforts ultimately have a very different outcome... much to the Devil's chagrin.
