(PRWEB) November 29, 2004 -- Looking for a quick escape? Click on http://RibbonsofHighway.blogspot.com, and let Lori Hein, author of "Ribbons of Highway: A Mother-Child Journey Across America," take you around the world.

"I started the blog in October," said Hein, who's happy to find a home for her 60 countries' worth of pix, tips and tales. "I had four readers, all related to me. Thank goodness for mothers and sisters."

Hein's now blogging to a wider audience and invites travelers and armchair travelers to bookmark http://RibbonsofHighway.blogspot.com and visit often. "I hope to post something new nearly every day," said Hein, "and I plan to keep the content varied, interesting, and chock-full of photography. I'll take readers to places near and far, familiar and exotic."

In its inaugural posts, Hein's blog has taken readers to such far-flung locales as Jordan and Iraq, England and Ecuador, China and Crete, Belgium and Bulgaria, Alberta and Bolivia, Portugal and Tibet, New York and New Mexico, Scotland and Switzerland. "I feel like I toured the whole world in a half-hour," said a blog visitor. "I love her stories," said another visitor, who's also read Hein's book.

Hein notes that blogging can be addictive, especially when readers come to expect new material on a regular basis. "I dont want to let them down," said Hein. "They visit to escape, to glimpse places they've wondered about, to be entertained, to get travel ideas. I have to keep the posts coming. I have great fun doing it."

When she's not offering free doses of travel writing and photography on her blog, Hein's writing for newspapers, magazines and the Web, and tending to the care and feeding of "Ribbons of Highway: A Mother-Child Journey Across America," the story of a 12,000-mile, post-9/11 odyssey into the heart of America. Excerpts and order info at www.LoriHein.com. "You write a good sentence..." – William Least Heat-Moon, author of the American travel classics, "Blue Highways," "PrairyErth" and "River-Horse;" "A wonderfully textured and beautifully written book..." – Jordan Rich, WBZ NewsRadio 1030AM, Boston; "I highly recommend sharing 'Ribbons of Highway' with those you love." – Lynda Lukow, reviewer, MyShelf.com.

If you'd like a regular travel fix, sit back, and let Lori Hein take you around the world through pictures and prose. Bookmark http://RibbonsofHighway.blogspot.com. Visit often. And, says Hein, "Tell me where you want to go next. Odds are better than even I can take you there. And it will be my pleasure."

It's a big world. It's a small world. Enjoy the journey.
