Texas Hall of Fame Cowboy Generates Increased Visibility and Fan Contact With Online Video Performances and Autographed Digital Live-Action Pictures
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 29, 2004 -- Six-time world champion calf roper and 1999 all-around world champion Fred Whitfield has joined the Gold Buckle Network (GBN) Rodeo Team. Whitfield is the GBN Rodeo Teams first member and will be joined by other Western sports athletes from diverse rodeo and equestrian sports. Whitfield and the rest of the Rodeo Team will participate in new promotional activities made possible by GBNs online network at www.goldbucklenetwork.com.
The digital streaming video and e-commerce provider has designed a number of programs to increase visibility of select Western athletes among the nations nearly 60 million annual rodeo attendees. Fans can visit www.goldbucklenetwork.com to watch digital streaming videos of Fred Whitfield and other GBN Rodeo Team members competing. In addition, GBN will offer fans the ability to purchase digital live-action photographs and have Whitfield and other team members autograph them at the rodeo.
"Fred Whitfield is a true American sports champion, and we are extremely pleased to welcome him to the GBN Rodeo Team," notes Cleo Hearn, Gold Buckle Network Rodeo Operations Committee member. "Fred's participation on the GBN Rodeo Team is great news for rodeo fans everywhere because they can see their heroes online anytime they want."
Whitfield became the Professional Ropers Association's first champion in 2002. Later that year, he won his sixth Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) Calf Roping World Championship. In 2003, he was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and became only the third professional cowboy in the history of the PRCA to surpass the $2 million career earnings mark. The holder of many PRCA calf roping records, Whitfield performs in as many as 100 rodeos and travels over 100,000 miles each year competing all over the United States and Canada.
In 1990 Whitfield became a member of the PRCA and finished his first season as the Resistol Rookie of the Year. He became the first African American to win the PRCA Calf Roping World Championship in 1991. His five additional world championships since then, combined with the All-Around Cowboy World Title and coveted Number One National Finals Rodeo (NFR) ranking, have made Whitfield one of the most dominating athletes in the sport of rodeo and a role model for fans across the world.
