LAS VEGAS, NV (PRWEB) December 1, 2004 -- Stage Door Entertainment proudly presents a new musical adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" from December 16 to 23 at the Summerlin Library Performing Arts Center (1771 Inner Circle Drive, Las Vegas, NV).
Before there was "Miracle on 34th Street" or "It's a Wonderful Life" or even "Babes in Toyland," there was "A Christmas Carol." Charles Dickens published his ghostly little book in 1843, just in time for the holiday shopping rush, and it became an instant hit with families worldwide.
Regarded as one of Dickens' best works, the tale has never lost momentum. There have been over 200 film versions of the tale, featuring actors such as George C. Scott, Bill Murray, Patrick Stewart, and Scrooge McDuck in the leading role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
Appealing to couples and families of ALL AGES, this new musical adaptation is sure to warm the hearts of those who see it, regardless of background or religion, as Ebenezer Scrooge is guided down a path towards redemption by the Ghost of Jacob Marley and the aid of three timely spirits.
Veteran actor and former Desert Inn entertainment director Byron Tidwell brings a lively interpretation to the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. David Tapper (named Best Director by the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2004 for his work on Nevada Theatre Company's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch") guides the audience through this touching tale.
Featuring an original adaptation by Stefanie Player and original music by Linda Uzelac and Terrence R. Williams, the show's pacing has been dramatically improved and placed in a more emotional context.
"A Christmas Carol" is the first show of Stage Door's 2004-2005 season, which will include such hits as "The Compleat Works of Wllm Shakspr (abridged)," "Puss In Boots," "Dorothy Meets Alice" and Stephen Sondheim's "Assassins" (winner of 5 Tony Awards in 2004)!
Performances will be held at the Summerlin Library Performing Arts Center (1771 Inner Circle Drive, Las Vegas, NV) from Thursday, December 16 through Thursday, December 23. Showtimes are at 7:30pm nightly with matinees on Saturday and Sunday (12/18 and 12/19) at 2:30pm.
