Humor columnist Curt Brandao will be a featured guest on the "Into Tomorrow" radio show Sunday, Dec. 5, at 4:30 p.m. ET

(PRWEB) December 1, 2004 -- Curt Brandao, Universal Press Syndicates Digital Slob,” will be a featured guest on "Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline" on Dec. 5, bringing his humorous twist on technology to the national radio show at 4:30 p.m. ET.

"Into Tomorrow " broadcasts Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. ET on more than 100 stations around the country. It can also be heard on Sirius Talk Central, Channel 148, XM Ask! Channel 165 and via its web site, graveline.com.

In his weekly column, Brandao divides people in the Digital Age into two groups based on how they use technology — Respectable People use it to be more productive, while Digital Slobs use it to free up more time to watch TV. "Many Digital Slobs are seriously considering naming their firstborn 'TiVo,'" Brandao says, "'TiVette' if it's a girl."

This week, he'll discuss how to holiday shop for the Digital Slob in your family.

"About 25 cents of every dollar spent this holiday season will be on high-tech gifts," Brandao says, "but history teaches it's good to be smart about it. After all, many of us now have more computing power in our junk drawers than was used on all the Apollo missions combined."

As Paul Boutin, freelance writer for The New York Times, Slate and Wired said, "Curt's the kind of guy whose dream technology is a TiVo that knows when to order pizza 45 minutes in advance."

The 36-year-old columnist and editor has been in the newspaper business for more than a dozen years. He earned a master's degree in communications in 1992 from The University of Tennessee, where he drew the daily comic strip "Cuff & Rubin," a national finalist in the Charles M. Schulz College Cartoonist contest.

I dont just write about digital cameras or PDAs in IT-speak binary code. I write about my grandmother, the Oscars, high school, loose change, wisdom teeth, time travel, handwriting and ketchup, and how it all relates to how we live now in the Digital Age. ‘Technology behavior has now become pervasive enough to mock,” Brandao said.

For large papers, Digital Slob” can draw more readers to their extensive, but too often stuffy, technology sections. And for smaller papers, it offers an amusing, easily accessible high-tech presence.
