CCAR’s S/P2 Online Training Reaches 1,500 Schools Enrolled

The L.P Card Skill Center in Pasadena, Texas, has become the 1,500th school to enroll in the “S/P2” online training in Safety and Pollution Prevention offered by the Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair. CCAR makes S/P2 available on no charge to automotive training programs throughout the U.S.

Overland Park, KS (PRWEB) December 2, 2004 -- The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR) has announced the enrollment of the 1,500th school in its S/P2 program.

The L.P. Card Skill Center in Pasadena, Texas, is the 1,500th school to enroll in S/P2, an online training course in Safety and Pollution Prevention for the auto repair industry. James Jackson is the automotive instructor at the Skill Center, a part of the Pasadena Independent School District.

“The S/P2 program is a welcome addition to the classroom,” said Jackson. “I really appreciate the assistance when dealing with the awesome responsibility of teaching safety and environmental issues. The administrative menus allow a supervisor to easily monitor the progress of each student/employee.

“The Spanish-language option is very useful because it gives students the opportunity to complete all training in English or Spanish,” Jackson continued. “S/P2 is a well-designed program and it is easy for me and my students to use."

S/P2 is available free of charge to automotive training programs. At the more than 1,500 schools now enrolled, a student audience of more than 122,000 has access to the program. The S/P2 courseware tracks technician/student progress through the training, grades tests and is constantly updated as changes occur in federal and state laws.

“CCAR is proud of the partnerships represented by reaching 1,500 school enrollments,” said Robert G. Stewart, CCAR President. “S/P2 is setting the standard for safety and environmental awareness in the auto repair industry. The students using S/P2 at the L.P. Card Skill Center, as well as the hundreds of other schools enrolled, will carry this vital knowledge into the workforce.

“Now that we have reached approximately one-third of the automotive training programs,” added Stewart, “we are more determined than ever to inform, educate and enroll the rest.”

CCAR developed S/P2 in accord with U.S. EPA and OSHA standards, which require that shop personnel and students be trained at least annually on safety and environmental regulations. An annual industry-wide review of the S/P2 training includes representatives from independent repair businesses, instructors, OEMs, insurance companies and government agencies.

For shops, the business edition of S/P2 is available for a $299 annual subscription per facility.

CCAR, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, also operates “CCAR-GreenLink®,” the National Environmental Compliance Assistance Center for Automotive Repair, in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency [EPA].
