The American Health Association, an award winning non-profit community service organization, through its "American Volunteer Corps" today launched what could become America's largest Teddy Bear campaign as it began collecting twenty five thousand Teddy Bears, dolls and stuffed animals for the Orphans of War Campaign in Iraq.
Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) December 2, 2004 -- The American Volunteer Corps already has collected more than fifteen thousand Teddy Bears, dolls and stuffed animals for residents of Palm Beach County's nursing homes, assisted living facilities and Alzheimer Units. This has been accomplished with the support of Colonial Bank's 9 branches which serve as official Teddy Bear Adoption Centers and where people can drop off new and recycled dolls, stuffed animals and Teddy Bears.
"These Teddy Bears are symbols of that love, compassion and hope of the American people for a better tomorrow from all the residents of Palm Beach County", said Lt. Colonel Bob Weinstein, Chairman for the Orphans of War Campaign and a member of the American Health Association. "I believe that Americans have the best interest in mind for the Iraqi people and really want to address their legitimate needs. There is a connection between a better tomorrow for Iraq and a better tomorrow for America."
"It makes sense to build on the generosity of the residents of Palm Beach County and attempt to give the orphans of Iraq a sense of hope and love that there is a better future ahead," said Rob Gordon, Executive Director of American Health Association. "The support of the Colonial Bank and the Teddy Bear Adoption Centers makes this possible."
The last two decades in Iraq's history have brought civil war with the Kurds, conflicts with neighboring Iran, the invasion of Kuwait, the Gulf War and the aftermath of international sanctions. Now, the American liberation and the resultant insurgency or civil war has left thousands of innocent babies and tots without mothers and fathers. "While Teddy Bears can't win the war, it could win the hearts with some kindness for those left orphaned by the liberation of Iraq" said Weinstein.
To give a new or recycled Teddy Bear, doll or stuffed animals, simply drop them off at any Colonial Bank in Palm Beach County. For those who want to contribute to the fund that is supporting this cause, please write checks to AHA, 3200 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL. 33431. Contributions are tax deductible. Any questions, please call the American Volunteer Corps, American Health Association at 561-361-9091
The American Volunteer Corps is part of the American Health Association and has already collected over 15,000 teddy bears, dolls and stuffed animals for the disenfranchised and neglected seniors in Palm Beach County
