Ortlieb Introduces "Hardshell" Cycling Luggage

Ortlieb USA, exclusive US distributor of Ortlieb Waterpoof Outdoor Gear is making the new line of waterproof Hardshell bicycle luggage available to the US market this Winter.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) December 4, 2004 -- Blending features that are generally accepted as incompatible, Ortlieb has stretched the boundaries of design once again by introducing The Shuttle. A hard-shell", waterproof case thats also extremely lightweight and functional. Designed around the revolutionary Ortlieb Tri-Point bicycle rack-top mounting system, the Shuttle functions as a roomy bicycle ‘rack trunk that quickly dismounts to perform as a full featured piece of roll on- board luggage. Ideal for bike tripping through the countryside, commuting downtown to the office, or just hopping on a plane for a weekend get away, the Shuttle will keep all of your personal items and clothing clean, dry and neatly stored behind its airtight shell and Tizip zipper closure.

In the beginning of the ‘80s company founder Hartmut Ortlieb started in his garage sewing bicycle panniers out of truck tarps. Hartmut himself developed the 3D high frequency welding process that is used today. Now Ortlieb has ventured into the production of high quality Polycarbonate gear. Ortlieb is a "complete" enterprise with an manufacturing division, tool and machine production, sales and marketing, and worldwide distribution.

Ortlieb produces and distributes waterproof and durable outdoor equipment, including panniers, office bags, backpacks, messenger bags, drybags and stuffsacks, motorcycle packs and tankbags, camera bags, document bags and map cases, water-bags and water-sacks, folding bowls, first-aid-kits, money belts, valuable bags and mobile phone cases.
Ortlieb uses predominantly tear and abrasion resistant nylon, polyester and Cordura fabrics and PU-foils. Their waterproof products are exclusively manufactured at their production site in Heilsbronn using a high-frequency welding procedure.

Via their own distribution system they supply to national specialty retailers in the following markets: bike, outdoor, trekking and expedition, motorcycle and paddlesport. Ortlieb also exports from their production site in Germany into 17 countries with appointed distributors. The largest export countries are Switzerland, the Benelux, United Kingdom and Japan as well as the US with their own subsidiary.
