World famous hartford, Connecticut italian bakery is clear winner in comparison conducted by Atlanta Newspapers

(PRWEB) December 9, 2004 -- The article ran on Dec. 4th, 2004 in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution and compared online orders placed with both a well-known food emporium and also took a chance on two other bakeries that had prominent e-commerce sites.

The emporium's delivery and presentation were less than quality, and "after one bite, several reporters tossed their rugelach into the trash."

), buttery, nut-topped crescents and several types of soft, chewy amaretti cookies made with almond paste and tinted bright pink and green. Italian hard candies and Jordan almonds were sprinkled among the cookies.
The reporters then ordered 3-pound cookie tray from Mozzicato de Pasquale bakery and pastry shop.

The cost was $24, plus $9 for ground shipping.
The reporters said that "the cookie tray that arrived from this Italian bakery in Hartford, Conn., was an exact replica of the one pictured on the Web site. This festive assortment of traditional Italian cookies included chocolate cookies called "baci" (the Italian term for "kiss"), buttery, nut-topped crescents and several types of soft, chewy amaretti cookies made with almond paste and tinted bright pink and green. Italian hard candies and Jordan almonds were sprinkled among the cookies."

"These freshly baked cookies went beyond delicious and gorgeous. They inspired nostalgia. Several testers began reminiscing: Italian weddings with large trays mounded with traditional cookies such as those from Mozzicato; seasonal treats baked every Christmastime by Italian-American grandmothers; hometown neighborhood bakeries that once turned out Italian treats. Were they still around, and would the cannoli still taste as fresh?"

The Mozzicato DePasquale Bakery and Pastry Shop, a Hartford institution, has been producing the finest Italian pastries, Italian cakes and christmas cookies for many years. Their website allows them to extend their italian bakery specialties to anywhere in the United States.

Gino Mozzicato moved to the United States from Italy in 1968. Later in 1973, using his experience and expertise in baking, he and his wife Gisella founded Mozzicato Pastry Shop in Hartford, Connecticut. The pastry shop specialized in cakes, pastries, and cookies and also featured imported Italian confections.

The bakery underwent an expansion to facilitate its rapid growth in 1978. At this time, Gino and Gisella founded Mozzicato Caffé, a gathering place in an authentic Italian atmosphere, modeled after the many caffés of Italy. In 1993, Gino and Gisella along with their children, Gina, Paolo, and Rino expanded and renovated the bakery, dramatically increasing retail and production space. The bakery underwent yet another expansion in 2001. Mozzicato's continuously upgrades its technology while maintaining the old world skill which makes its products famous.
