PLI-Corpedia Releases New Web-based Course on Sexual Harassment That Aligns With the New California Law

A new California law mandating sexual harassment prevention training, AB 1825, signed by Governor Schwarzenegger on September 30th, requires that employers of 50 or more employees train supervisors on sexual harassment every two years. The training must include strategies for preventing sexual harassment in the workplace and must discuss remedies for victims of harassment. PLI-Corpedia has developed an online interactive training course for this purpose.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 10, 2004 -- A new California law mandating sexual harassment prevention training, AB 1825, signed by Governor Schwarzenegger on September 30th, requires that employers of 50 or more employees train supervisors on sexual harassment every two years. The training must include strategies for preventing sexual harassment in the workplace and must discuss remedies for victims of harassment. By January 1, 2006, all employers with California workforce must provide two hours of sexual harassment training and education to all supervisory employees.

What Do You Wish Your Managers Knew About Recognizing and Preventing Sexual Harassment Situations?

The answer lies within the comprehensive 2-hour online training program Recognizing and Preventing Workplace Harassment – California Edition, developed in conjunction with leading employment law attorney Tyler Paetkau Esq., partner at the firm Bingham McCutchen LLP, and made available for organizations to train their supervisory employees. To combat sexual harassment, states and the federal government have created laws and guidelines to promote equal opportunity, healthy work environment and prevent harassment in the workplace. Company managers have an additional responsibility to both their employees and their company to know their role in preventing sexual harassment. Every manager is accountable for knowing the laws, guidelines, policies, and resources for correcting, preventing, and investigating sexual harassment complaints.

Sexual harassment can have a disastrous impact on victims, offenders, and the company in which the offense occurs. Training your managers in the essentials and nuances of prohibited conduct is an important part of reducing liability and aligning with the training provisions under the new California Law. By requiring managers to take this course, you are also demonstrating your commitment to a fair, responsible, and healthy organizational environment free from harassment and intimidation.
After taking PLI-Corpedia's Recognizing and Preventing Sexual Harassment- California Edition course, your managers will be able to:

•   Understand the federal and state statutory provisions concerning sexual harassment;
•   Define and recognize sexual harassment;
•   Recognize who can be a harasser;
•   Know the consequences, financial impact and liability of sexual harassment;
•   Identify the appropriate courses of action and remedies available to victims of sexual harassment;
•   Identify responsibilities and appropriate strategies for preventing and correcting sexual harassment, proper handling of complaints and non-retaliation.

Recognizing and Preventing Sexual Harassment - California Edition, like all PLI-Corpedia Web-based interactive training programs, is engaging with rich multimedia scenarios, activities, role-play, practical examples, case studies, quizzes and testing questions that bring clarity to an issue so that average employees can easily understand and appreciate it. Furthermore, the program is cost-effective, time-efficient and very easy to deploy throughout an organization.
