Travel Through History with the Estate Auction of Mickey Mishne

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

The incredible Estate of Automotive Expert Mickey Mishne includes thousands of pieces of art.

(PRWEB) December 20, 2004 -- Cleveland's own, Merle "Mickey" Mishne, an automobile and transportation expert, was discovered at his home—the victim of a terrible crime. Mishne was a notable collector of antique automobiles, and an authority on forms of transportation from WWII planes to flashy Bugatti automobiles. A world-renowned expert, the "Cleveland Plain Dealer" often called upon his opinion when the subject of America's rise of industry via transportation arose. He wrote over 500 articles in the Plain Dealer", the Automotive Quarterly" and other national publications. He founded the "Cleveland Sport Car Club", and was also summoned by the "History Channel" for his Bugatti expertise. Mishne was an advocate of transportation education, and was a featured essayist in Henry H. Hawley's book, Bugatti.

After the murder of his daughter, he actively fought violent video games such as Grand Theft Auto—believing them to be a catalyst to violent acts. The tragedy beginning with his daughter's death on November 2, 2002 ended 18 months later with his own murder. He was 73 years old. A strange and terrible chain of events followed this man's truly interesting life. In accordance with his final wishes, Mishne's family spread his ashes at the Start/Finish line at Watkins Glen Raceway in upstate New York.

Antiques and Estate Auctioneers and Appraisers out of Wellington, Ohio will be leading the public auction of Mishne's estate. Included in the estate are over 400 lots. Featured Vintage Original Poster Art includes a Kina Lillet poster (1937) by Robys, and a Maurin Quina (1910) original vintage poster by Leonetta Cappiella. Many highly collectible Bugatti pieces are among the estate as well as WWII Aviation Art. A brilliant collection of colorful and true-to-life oil on canvas paintings by both Dion Pears and Jose Maria Jorge attest to Mishnes unique expertise. Also available are myriad signed and numbered prints by various Aviation and Automotive artists. An eclectic collection of racing/automotive posters, Gamy stone lithographs, bronzes, travel posters, original vintage advertisements, original vintage military posters, and signed Ansel Adams prints await. Also being sold that day will be his 1946 La France fire truck purchased by Mishne from the city of Fairview Park almost 25 years ago. "The collection is so large, it will take several auctions to sell everything" said John Farkas, Auctioneer.

A preview will be held on Thursday January 13th, 2005—from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the gallery located at 44777 St. Rt. 18 E Wellington, OH 44090. The Live Gallery Auction combined with Live World Wide Internet Bidding will commence on Saturday January 15th, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. A complete inventory of the first auction can be viewed at http://www.estateauctioneers.com/.
