Gordian Health Solutions- Nashville based population health management firm-has been awarded 22 new clients over last six months of 2004.

Nashville, TN (HRMarketer/PRWeb) December 16, 2004 -- Gordian Health Solutions, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded 22 new comprehensive population health management clients over the last six months of 2004. This new business includes fully-insured and self-insured employers with an employee population ranging in size from 1,500 to 30,000. While implementation is already underway for a number of these accounts, all new accounts will have completed implementation by the end of first quarter 2005.

Gordian, based in Nashville, Tenn., is a nationally-recognized leader in population health management, offering a full line of tools to analyze health status, manage health risk, and provide health management programs and services, and unparalleled results reporting and tracking capabilities. The companys new clients represent a total additional 84,350 eligible employees who will benefit from Gordians emphasis on customized services.

Our clients recognize the importance of keeping their workforce healthy by offering health coaching expertise to those who have one or more health risk or that have been diagnosed with a chronic condition as they seek to manage their disease,” says Gregg Lehman, PhD, president and CEO of Gordian. Gordians strength in integrating health management and behavioral change incentives into an employers benefit package makes us unique,” he says.

Gordians employee communications and IT capabilities allow the company to integrate with a clients HR benefit and compensation program to design a customized employee communication and administration package around a population health benefit. Gordian views the ability to customize employee communications that reflect each clients plan design, specific program offerings and incentives to participate as a key success factor.

Our clients like the idea that they can use their own branding to introduce and implement our programs, or that we can design a complete turnkey communications package to reflect their corporate culture,” says Roger Reed, executive vice president and chief health officer at Gordian.

Reed also notes the growing awareness among employers that population health management is an avenue for lowering overall healthcare costs.

Many employers realize that lowering health risks in their employee population now will lower health costs down the line,” he says. Employers are also aware that using health risk assessments builds employee understanding of their current health status, and helps employees realize that changing their risky behaviors now can improve their lives now and in the future. Employers who offer lifestyle management and disease management programs are giving employees a truly valuable benefit.”

One in four of Gordians new clients is taking advantage of the companys approach to reward program participation by providing financial incentives in the health benefit plan. Gordians sophisticated IT platform allows clients to raise or lower the amount employees pay for health benefits as a program incentive for participation in any number of Gordians lifestyle, health management and disease management programs.

Most Gordian programs begin with our state-of-the-art, on-line Health Risk Assessment,” says Lehman. Gordians HRA can be customized for each client, and is a cost-effective tool to gather data to determine health risk for a given population. Alongside retrospective claims analysis and biometric testing, the HRA is part of Gordians tool kit to form the basis for risk stratification within a clients employee population--from no risk through high risk.

Reed says the company is seeing a growing trend in increased use of online HRAs versus paper-based assessments, from about 30 percent of clients two years ago to about 70 percent now. The development of culturally sensitive HRAs is also increasing, he added.

Gordian clients select from a menu of programs, including Weigh To Be Healthy DMSM, its newest obesity management program. Other popular programs tackle cholesterol management, blood pressure management, stress management, and disease management for diabetes and heart disease.
