Vacation Rental Forum Teaches Owners the Tricks of the Trade

The first discussion forum for vacation rental owners worldwide is where owners exchange know-how on what's closest to their hearts - how to get more bookings using the internet.

(PRWEB) December 18, 2004 -- More and more of us are buying vacation rentals as investments, but once the keys are handed over, what do we really know about managing and marketing the property?

Wouldnt it be great if there was a place we could learn how to do it? Well, now there is: www.laymyhat.com

Paolo De Paolis, founder of the Lay My Hat advice site for rental owners, wanted a place for rental owners to talk to each other: I thought that between us, we must know absolutely everything there is to know about the business of vacation rentals. It was just a question of getting together to discuss it."

So Paolo started writing the Lay My Hat newsletter, free to rental owners and full of tips for getting more bookings over the internet. The newsletter got a great response: I got a lot of emails from vacation rental owners saying how relieved they were to hear they were not alone, there was somebody out there to help with this whole internet thing."

The newsletter was getting rave reviews, but it was not a dialogue between owners. So next, Lay My Hat became a website - www.laymyhat.com - with all the newsletters and tips archived, and freely accessible, as well as the live discussion forum for rental owners.

There are people who dont know the first thing about managing and marketing a vacation rental property, and others who have it down to a fine art. On the Lay My Hat forum, everyone helps out where they can.

What has impressed me most about the forum", says Paolo, is how friendly and helpful rental owners are to each other – there is none of the bickering you get on other forums. Its a sense of ‘Were all in this together, so lets help each other out. "

Another thing that will impress vacation rental owners about www.laymyhat.com is that everything on the site is free.

And if youre wondering about the ‘Lay My Hat name, its because as the song says, Wherever I lay my hat, thats my home…"
