"The idea of Mary Magdalene being Mrs. Jesus Christ, or her body being the Holy Grail, or the Priory Of Sion having a hold over the Vatican, are risible to anyone except conspiracy freaks, Mason-watchers, and bedsit-dwelling occultists".
"My concern is that genuine religious seekers may waste their time going up this spiritual dead end. Anyone interested in mysticism or esoteric Christianity in 2005 should seek out books by Dion Fortune, Kyriacos Markides or Dr. Stylianos Atteshlis, and leave this disingenuous potboiler on the shelf."
TigerTom said that the reason for him speaking out was that a colleague of a close friend said that, after reading Mr Brown's book: "She knew that Christianity was bogus".
"Christmas is upon us" he said. "Will people celebrate this feast day by giving 'The Da Vinci Code' as a present to their loved ones? The mind boggles."
"If a similar work of 'fiction' had been written claiming that Lutherans were covertly murdering the descendants of Luther, or that Jewish leaders were doing likewise to descendants of Moses, there would be uproar."
