Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 21, 2004 -- Redd Fogg Records is pleased to announce the release of shadow of you, a new full-length CD by genre-fusing vocalist, Heather Waters. Produced by long-time bassist Sheldon Gomberg, the latest offering from the soulful songwriter includes collaborations with legendary Americana artists Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, as well as Rami Jaffee of The Wallflowers.
The shadow of you sessions were anchored by Gomberg, Eric Heywood (Son Volt, Alejandro Escovedo), and Craig Macintyre (Josh Groban), with a host of A-list players, including Greg Leisz and Don Heffington, dropping by to lend their talents and time. Jaffee added lush B3, while David Kalish (Rickie Lee Jones) laid down what is arguably one of the most emotional guitar solos ever recorded. Welch also helped to round out the sound not only by playing, but also by writing two of the songs. Her partner, David Rawlings, produced both of these tracks.
shadow of you continues in the tradition of Waters' 2001 eponymous EP, which grabbed the attention of Grammy®-winning bluesman, Delbert McClinton. McClinton tapped Waters to sing backup on Room to Breathe (New West), his Grammy®-nominated album from 2002. He also put her in his video for "Lone Star Blues," which aired on CMT. Like McClinton, critics have responded to Waters in no uncertain terms. Country Standard Time magazine described her as "dynamite waiting to explode on the music industry."
Waters grew up in the Chicago area, the daughter of a steelworker and a corrections officer. After quitting college during her junior year, she set out for Boston, where she cut her teeth opening for such esteemed artists as Kelly Willis, Bruce Robison, Tim O'Brien, and Darrell Scott. Her passionate blend of roots music caught the attention of veteran Bonnie Raitt bassist, Hutch Hutchinson, who went on to produce Water's debut EP.
After touring all over the East Coast, playing such revered venues as the original House of Blues, Club Passim and The Ironhorse, Waters packed her bags and headed south. She landed in Nashville, where she soon found herself working alongside long-time hero Emmylou Harris , as well as Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, Rodney Crowell, and Butch Hancock.
Waters is currently setting her sights on a spring acoustic tour of the East Coast and Midwest. Dates and details will be announced shortly.
