Last Minute Gift Ideas for Grandparents - from Grandparents

Need a last-minute gift for your grandparents -- or your childrens grandparents? Dont despair! Grandparents Magazine (grandparentsmagazine.net) took a quick poll of its members, and thousands replied with their favorite gift ideas. Some were predictable; some were surprising; all were filled with love. Best of all, many were inexpensive and easy for children and grandchildren to give.

Wayne, PA (PRWEB) December 23, 2004 -- Need a last-minute gift for your grandparents -- or your childrens grandparents? Dont despair! Grandparents Magazine (http://www.grandparentsmagazine.net) took a quick poll of its members, and thousands replied with their favorite gift ideas. Some were predictable; some were surprising; all were filled with love. Best of all, many were inexpensive and easy for children and grandchildren to give.

Here are the Top 5 gifts grandparents said theyd like to get this year:

1. Photographs. These can be professional studio shots or informal snapshots. Grandparents dont mind, as long as they have pictures of their grandkids!

2. Handmade anything. If the grandchild made it, the grandparents are thrilled to get it … framed or unframed, in a box or in a bag.

3. Time. Give them coupons created by the grandchildren that say things like Good for one game of cards," Good for a drive to the store" or Good for a day of fishing at our favorite water hole." Any time spent with their grandchildren are the best days ever.

4. Gift certificates. Grandparents asked for gift certificates for restaurants that they enjoy, a car service if they have difficulty driving, gardening or yard help, pedicures and manicures, or bookstores.

5. Stationery. Particularly for grandparents who are far away, give them what they need to stay connected: writing paper, cards, stamps, pens, journals, scrapbooks, etc.

Need some original ideas? Here are some of the heartwarming gifts our members described:

The best gift I ever received from my grandson was a CD he burned with all of my favorite songs on it. I will treasure it forever." -- C. Held

Hanging in my tree I have stars with their pictures in it, snowmen made of Styrofoam balls, tiny colored Christmas trees made in felt, all sort of things that were done with us in mind." -- A. Tanner

We got a certificate with all the grandkids on it saying that we are the best grandparents in the world. The oldest grandchild, only 8 years old, made it on the computer." -- B. Ty

My favorite gift was a set of placemats from my four small grandchildren. Each child did a drawing, and their mother took them to a copy shop and had them laminated. Each morning when I have my coffee, I am reminded how much my daughter and her children love me!" -- C. Oggy

The most treasured gift from my grandchild was a box of decorated gingerbread cookies. They were far from perfect but he put his heart into them, and I kept them until the summer heat did them in." -- S. Malinowski

The first Christmas we spent away from our grandchildren after we moved, we got an audiotape of our darling grandson singing Christmas songs and telling us how much he loved us and what he was planning to do for Christmas. Just to hear his sweet voice was such a joy." -- D. Faust

My grandson, not quite 4 years old, gave me an ornament of a biplane. He selected it himself, knowing that I used to be in the Armed Forces and flew aircraft. On the card, he wrote, "Please do not try to fly this airplane, Grandpa, it will not leave the ground." For any grandchild to select something that will remind you of the past is a gift you will cherish the rest of your days." -- Grandpa Jad
