For Natural, Sustainable Energy And Overall Sense Of Well-Being, Guayaki Yerba Mate Is Superior to Tea, Coffee And Those So-Called Energy Drinks

A Simple Idea: Get sustainable energy from nature with proven health benefits and no side-effects.

(PRWEB) December 27, 2004 -- Guayakí "Guayakí" is pronounced gwy-uh-KEE and means "people." The Guayakí people are believed to have been the first people to live in the Interior-Atlantic forest region.

Dream
Guayakí began as a college class project in 1996. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo students Alex Pryor from Argentina and David Karr from California developed a business model that would bridge the continents by introducing yerba maté to North Americans while protecting the South American rainforests and the people and animals living there.

Certified Organic - Certified Kosher
Karr and Pryor created a for-profit conservation company that would empower consumers to vote with their dollars" by purchasing products that drive positive social and environmental change.

From a big heart and a humble start, Guayakí grew from a class project to a touring RV painted with a rainforest mural from which yerba maté was served to the energy-starved crowds across the U.S. to the market leader it is today. Read the whole story here. Guayakí is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.

Vision
Guayakí Yerba Maté is a model reforestation project that began a decade ago to empower indigenous communities to sustain their forests. Today this project inspires hope that sustainable rainforest projects will reconnect distant forest reserves and ultimately restore precious habitat for all wildlife.

Mission
Guayakí strives to work directly with growers to deliver unique and beneficial products that enhance personal health and well-being.

We define sustainability as a method of using resources in a way that does not deplete, alter, or permanently damage the very resource involved, and further, considers the resources that are involved to take that product to market. Resources include the people, environment, product source, packaging choices, and marketing materials.

Goal
Our goal is to create economic models that drive rainforest restoration while employing a living wage.

How You Can Participate
Be a conscious consumer, and individual who makes a purchase based upon principles of environmental, cultural, and socioeconomic sustainability. Visit the Guayakí Store.
