Newnan, GA (PRWEB) December 29, 2004 -- Primal Waters has published its annual list of the top ten stress related news stories of 2004. The selections range from the unexpected dangers of a spat with your spouse to the surprising effects of stress on unborn children!

Ellen Britt, PA, Ed.D., co-founder of Primal Waters and director of the companys distance learning Stress Resiliency Coaching program, initiated the annual Top Ten Stress Related News Stories to bring attention to innovative research findings in the field of stress management. Britt, a former physician assistant, with over twenty years experience in urgent care, emergency and occupational medicine, specializes in assisting individuals and corporate clients with building more stress resilient lives and businesses.

Stress has become a permanent and pervasive part of our everyday lives, especially after the tragic events of 9-11. Stress has been implicated in everything from heart disease to diabetes, obesity and chronic pain and even plays a part in a womans ability to conceive. In addition, stress takes a huge toll every year on our nations economy. But there are simple steps we can take to make ourselves and our employees more stress resilient. By focusing on the latest stress research news, we can bring attention to this vitally important area."

Dr. Britt carefully follows each years research findings then compiles the annual list in December. She then adds suggestions on how individuals, as well as companies, can use this research to increase their productivity and wellbeing for 2005 and beyond.

Research on early life stress grabbed the number ten spot, revealing that stressful events that occur early in our lives can have detrimental effects later, even after we become adults. In fact, when we have experienced early life stress, we are even more vulnerable to stress as adults. We all know we are powerless to change the circumstances of our early lives, so what is the lesson here?

We cant change our childhoods," says Dr. Britt, but its important to understand that those of us who had difficult early years may be more susceptible to stress as adults. We can take care to minimize the effects of stress on our adult lives by taking some practical steps, such as making changes in the way we eat and increasing our physical activity to build our stress resiliency. For instance, most people dont realize that simply by adding small amounts of a few easily available, great tasting foods to their daily diets, they can make powerful gains in their ability to ward off the effects of stress."
