Businesses pledge to help tsunami survivors. California company urges worldwide one-week pledge by every business for world's largest natural disaster.
(PRWEB) December 30, 2004 -- A worldwide call to all business owners is going out from a small California company to help tsunami relief efforts. Please join me in standing with courage behind the survivors by giving 25% of gross revenue for one week," pleas Julian Kalmar of Marina del Rey.
To the survivors, he says, You are not alone. We hear your cries and were coming."
Im calling on every self-respecting business owner to reach into their heart and pocket to give to their brothers and sisters in this most desperate time. All I ask is your pledge for one week. Will you join me?"
While Julian is giving until January 31st, hes asking every company to commit to the following pledge: We will give 25% of the companys gross revenue for the next week to the tsunami victims in Asia."
If every business-person of character steps forwards, $170 billion (USD) will be raised. The small sacrifice is probably tax-deductible."
He recommends choosing major charitable organizations such as the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, or the UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees).
I personally cant comprehend the scale of the misery inflicted in Asia. If I imagine the loss of one dear family member multiplied a hundred thousand times, I think Im just scratching the surface."
After losing his home in the 1994 Los Angeles earthquake, Julian identifies with earthquake victims. Though people were killed in my neighborhood, whats going on in Asia is thousands of times worse. My heart goes out to the poor survivors whove lost so many loved ones."
Remarkable is Julians personal courage and willingness to take a stand. Hes been flat on his back for almost 3 years with a back injury. Full of hope, hes determined to get his own life back, and help as many people as he can along the way.
Ive dedicated my time to helping others find happiness even though Im stuck in bed," says Julian. If businesses around the world will stand with me, well all be closer and better off for it."
