Good Intentions Go Awry in Andrews Jenkins Super Bowl XXXVIII Debut for Budweiser with Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Unexpected Humor Twist Meets High Adrenalin Action in High-Profile Spot Through Agency DDB Chicago

(PRWEB) February 2 2004--Food Chain Films director Andrews Jenkins revs up his latest Budweiser spot with agency DDB Chicago. A high-action tale of good intentions (gone awry…), Goodbye" pits NASCAR luminary Dale Earnhart, Jr. in a vintage sportscar against a private jet in a gallant race from Las Vegas to LA to return a womans forgotten possession. Driven by the DBB Chicago creative team of CD John Immesoete, CD/AD Adam Glickman, and CD/Copywriter Craig Feigen, Goodbye" was steered by Agency Producer Greg Popp and Food Chains Rian Moore. The high-profile spot was shot by Joe Meade and edited into :60 and :30 versions by Chris Jones at Downstream Digital.

Goodbye" opens with Earnhardt, Jr. kissing a beautiful woman farewell next to a charter jet on the glistening Las Vegas airport runway. Returning to his car as the plane takes off, Dale discovers a tube of lipstick left behind on the seat. The chivalrous NASCAR driver kicks his sportscar into high gear, engaging in a high-speed solo race against the plane through the desert, screeching onto the LA runway in time to watch her disembark. I think you forgot something," Dale Jr. proudly announces to his astonished love interest, brandishing the lost lipstick tube. But its her unforeseen reply that perhaps leaves Dale Jr. the more surprised.

This was a great opportunity to create something larger-than-life and unexpected for both Budweiser and Dale Jr., so we treated this more like a short film than just another ad." states director Jenkins. From concept through execution, this was a collaborative and enjoyable spot to direct."

Food Chain navigated the precision stunt driving and high-speed helicopter-based aerial shots on the northern outskirts of Los Angeles, from Palmdale to Lancaster. The large-scale shoot also utilized the Camarillo Airport for the runway scenes and their personal charter jet. Las Vegas shimmering skyline was shot separately and composited in post.

No lizard was harmed during the making of this advertisement.
