Empyrean Management Group Presents Getting Hired 101 at Hampton University

Empyrean Management Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will be presenting Getting Hired 101 to the students of Hampton University on Tuesday, February 17, 04 in Harvey Library at 6:00 p.m.

Norristown, PA (PRWEB) February 16, 2004 -- Empyrean Management Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will be presenting Getting Hired 101 to the students of Hampton University on Tuesday, February 17, 04 in Harvey Library at 6:00 p.m. EMG is working in partnership with the Career Services Department to present their free comprehensive program on preparing students to enter the workforce. Empyreans President and founder, Michael G. Kalinsky was asked why his company would put on this free program, Too many companies spend too much time on how candidates do on tests and web-based screening tools. I think a lot of great candidates are overlooked and not given the chance to show a company what they can do. Getting Hired 101 is our way of giving the students the tools they may not have been exposed to during school to get their careers started down the right path. It has been the experience of the presenters that many companies still look at Diversity Hiring as attending a Career Fair and running an advertisement here and there. By working with the students we feel like we are leveling the playing field a little."

Empyrean has received an overwhelmingly positive response from other Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Getting Hired 101 will be presented later this month at Cheyney University of PA and in the spring at Delaware State University and University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Getting Hired 101 takes the students step by step through the process of finding a job. With segments on Resume Preparation, Proper Dress, Behavioral Interview techniques, and Research, we feel that we are giving the students as many advantages as we would have liked to have had when we left school to seek our fortunes," said Jermaine Williamson an EMG presenter. He continued, As a graduate of an HBCU I see the Getting Hired program as a way of giving back to an underserved community."

Through a combination of Role Playing, Q/A, and lecture Empyreans consultants walk students through a typical hiring process at most companies. When we presented this at Delaware State University we received a great response from the students and faculty. We have incorporated a lot of their feedback into the role playing portions of the program. The students should really be better prepared to interview during the Career Fair the next day," Harold Hill, Diversity Recruiting Manager of EMG.
