Q.T. Pie Books Arrive at Kmart Stores

The Q. T. Pie childrens book series will be hitting shelves at select Kmart stores beginning in February.

Detroit, MI (PRWEB) February 29, 2004--The Q. T. Pie childrens book series will be hitting shelves at select Kmart stores beginning in February.

Author Stephanie Sanders and graphic artist, Galen Pauling, created the Q.T. Pie series especially for African American girls up to age 10.

From the beginning of Q. T. Pies development, it was always my goal to reach children across the country. Because African Americans shop at Kmart stores, it makes good sense to partner with Kmart to offer this series to parents who are looking for quality stories for their children," said Sanders, author and co-publisher.

This is not the first time Q. T. Pie has been seen in Kmart stores. Beach towels have also sold at Kmart stores nationwide under license in 2002.

The series debuted in 1999 with The Ingredients of a Q.T. Pie and now has four titles including Q.T. Pie Catches the Rainbow, Q.T. Pies Rescue Adventure, and Q.T. Pie Meets Smart E. Sanders and Pauling started the SanPaul Group to publish Q. T. Pie titles, with the goal of educating, and entertaining urban children who seek representation in popular fiction.

The Q.T. Pie books have been gaining popularity with its target market because little girls can envision themselves in the stories" said Pauling.

Not only does each story keep children excited about reading, but it helps them build their vocabularies as well. At the back of the books, there are words from the story that are defined and phonetically spelled out so children can easily look them up as they read each story.

Its important to get children interested in challenging words early by making it fun to look up the ones they dont know," said Sanders.

The new books, which debuted in the fall of 2003, have more character depth and plot suspense. We wanted to add character qualities kids can really relate to," said Sanders. Q.T. Pie Meets Smart E introduces a new character for boys, Smart E," and a Hispanic character named Liz." Q.T. Pies Rescue Adventure highlights Q.T. Pies problem-solving skills and how responsibility is rewarded.

The books are also available in bookstores, from the SanPaul Group, L.L.C. and on amazon.com, bn.com, cushcity.com and walmart.com. The retail cost of each book is $3.50 - $4.99.
